Maldives Surf Spots - North Malé Atoll

Maldives, a well known top Surfing Destination with perfect waves over the crystal clear reefs in a tropical settings. Surfing season in the Maldives is the South-West Monsoon, from May to October. The most famous surfs spots are located on the North Malé Atoll such as Lohis, Chicken, Jailbreaks, Sultans, Honkeys and Ninjas, which is also not far from the International Airport and the Capital City Malé.

Chickens: located on the eastern reef of the North Male Atoll, near the uninhabited island, Vilingilimathi Huraa. Best surfing side surfed during high tides.

Cokes: located on the eastern reef of the North Male Atoll and near Thulusdhoo.

Lohis: located on the eastern Reef of the north Male Atoll, near Lohifushi Resort; access permitted only for the guests of Lohifushi Resort.

Pasta Point: a popular surfing site; one of the most consistent in the North Male Atoll; access limited to the guests of Dhonveli Beach & Spa only.

Jailbreak: this surfing site attracts surfers with its exceptional Long right. It has the fastest wave in the Maldives, having long walls and three tube sections.

Ninjas/Piddlies: located near Kanifinolhu Resort, on the eastern reef of the North Male Atoll.

Sultans: on the eastern reef of the North Male Atoll; great peak takeoff which turns into a tick tube on the inside. Great right with barrels over 4’.

Tombstones: adjacent to Sultans. Near the island of Thamburudhoo, it has a great long right which requires a big swell.

Honky’s: located on the eastern reef of the North Malé Atoll in the Maldives; the big waves are the best in Maldives. Long wrapping left, and perfect 150 yard ride with long walls and an inside section which stands bigger than takeoff.

Male Island Point: located on the eastern reef of North Malé Atoll, Malé Island Point has a dry reef to surf on.
