Like much of the world, stand-up wave riding was introduced in Australia by “The Duke.” It was 1915 when Hawaiian Duke Kahanamoku first gave an exhibition of surfboard riding at Freshwater Beach in Sydney and it didn't take long for the Australians to catch on.
With good reason, surfing quickly became ingrained in the fabric of Australian culture. The surf in Australia is world class and plenty consistent.
From Australia the surf stoke made it's way to the Kiwis on the island of New Zealand. With over 6,000 km of exposed coastline New Zealand was and still is a logical destination for surf exploration. From clean beach break barrels to giant bombs on rugged coastlines straight from middle-earth New Zealand has a lot to offer the traveling surfer.
